Hi this is Lauren Davis, owner of Culture Shock Clothing and Record store on Charles Street. Each weekend, the Stateline area is FULL of events and things to do for all ages. At Culture Shock Clothing and Records, we feel that if we want the community to support our local business, we need to make it our duty to go out and support as much as possible. My goal by making a list is to show you some of the areas coolest events each weekend to make it easier to find fun in the Rock River Valley. These events don’t exist without YOUR support so get out there this weekend and participate!

 

TONIGHT, Friday, March 20th

Exclusive Record Store Performance Tonight at 7pm, at Culture Shock Clothing and Records at 2239 Charles Street. Popular Chicago Punk Band Flatfoot 56 will be doing an ALL AGES, FREE Acoustic Performance and Meet and Greet. Join us for a rarely seen Acoustic Style performance and meet the band.

Later on TONIGHT, those live music fans 21 and older can see Flatfoot 56 and King of Demons in a  full sound, full set at Kryptonite bar on State and Main. Doors at 8pm, Show starts at 10PM.

At 10PM TONIGHT you can also find Chicago based band, Henhouse Prowlers, roots inspired bluegrass at Mary’s Place off of N. Madison Street. or head to country night at District for Outlaw Country Band, Stroker Red at 10pm.

 

Saturday March 21

Celebrate the melting together of the Rockford community and the melting away of winter. People of all ages, can enjoy MELTFEST, a family fun festival! Live music, 5K run/walk, group bike ride, indoor venue with local business vendors, free ice skating and trolley rides, plethora of family friendly activities, and more. The events take place in Riverview Park, Riverview Ice House, and Prairie Street Brewhouse off of Madison Street, downtown Rockford starting at 10am until 5pm.

THEN the Coronado Performing Arts Center brings you back to the 80’s by showing classic 80’s movies ANNIE at 11am, ET and 2pm, and Back to the Future at 4pm. Admission is FREE! Dress up in an 80’s outfit to win a prize!

On Saturday from 7pm to 9pm join the Haunted Rockford crew as they explore Der Rathskeller; one of the oldest restaurants in Rockford in its original location. Kathi Kresol will share the history and staff will share stories of their experiences. Psychics Paul Smith and Sara Bowker will share their impressions on who might linger here. Come early and dine – the food is fantastic and let the servers know you are coming for the Haunted Rockford event. Saturday night at 5pm, The 17th Annual RAMI Spring Benefit Sock Hop featuring the Missing Links, Clutch Cargo, Dirty Fishnet Stockings and Tripping Tarzan is a fun filled night with music, dancing, a dance contest, diner food, spiked malts, silent auction, and more. Each year the RAMI Sock Hop helps fund music education in the Rockford IL and surrounding area. 15 in advance, and $20 at the door at Tebala Shrine Center on Newburg Road.

LIVE MUSIC of EVERY GENRE on Saturday!

Hope and Anchor on N. Second Street presents the Female Blues artist of the year, Sena Ehrhardt for a $5 Cover at 7pm,

Franchescos off of Spring Creek hosts Dueling Pianos for $7 admission at 9PM,

Rockford’s Soul, Rhythm and Blues band Too Deep plays at Kryptonite on Main at 9PM with a $5 Cover,

on Madison Street, Mary’s Place hosts Pop Punk, Alternative and Indie Rock Bands Textbook, Mana Kintorso, La Historia, and Furlight with a $5 cover at 9:30PM,

Whiskeys Roadhouse on North Main hosts Rock and Roll Band Pulse 18 on Saturday at 9:30pm

Take 20 will host March Mash Up! Mixing Hip hop acts with Metal acts including Reckless Redemption, Pro Pittman, In the Hour, Volatile, Silence In the Wake, and More! All ages until midnight.

and District on State and Main downtown hosts Infinity, a Journey Cover Band at 10pm.

Sunday March 22

Enjoy the Indulge Event, a day of pampering, on Sunday presented by Rockford Parent and hosted at Franchescos. $7 at the door. The first 100 Guests will get a gift bag!

See touring national Alternative band Otherwise at Take 20 in Cherry Valley with Another Lost Year, Static Signal, Treacherous Friends, and Pure Inertia. Tickets are $15 pre-sale and available at Take 20 or showclix.com
